Upgrade from Drupal 10 to Drupal 11 before support ends

Drupal 10 reaches end of life on December 9, 2026. We assess your site, plan the upgrade and move it to Drupal 11, so it keeps receiving security fixes.

What changes on December 9, 2026

Your site will keep running. What stops is security support: the Drupal Security Team will no longer fix newly found vulnerabilities in Drupal 10, and contributed modules will stop releasing fixes for their Drupal 10 versions.

Drupal 12 is released the same week, and Drupal 11 stays supported. Every Drupal 10 site needs a plan to move to Drupal 11, and the safest time to do it is before the deadline, not after a security advisory that no longer covers you.

Why upgrade to Drupal 11 now instead of waiting for Drupal 12

Drupal 12 is not a shortcut. It requires PHP 8.5, newer database versions such as MariaDB 10.11 or PostgreSQL 18, and it only upgrades from recent Drupal 11 releases. Your site has to pass through Drupal 11 either way.

Contributed modules also need time to support a new major version. Moving to Drupal 11 now puts you on a fully supported version with a mature module ecosystem, and makes the later step to Drupal 12 much smaller.

What the upgrade includes

  • A readiness check of your custom code, contributed modules and theme, using Upgrade Status and a manual review
  • A hosting check for Drupal 11 requirements, including PHP 8.3 and supported database versions
  • Updating to the latest Drupal 10 release and replacing deprecated code
  • Replacing or porting modules that have no Drupal 11 release, including modules that left core such as Book, Forum, Statistics and Tour
  • Running the upgrade on a staging copy and testing your key pages, forms and integrations
  • A production release with a backup and a rollback plan
  • A short report of what changed and what to prepare for Drupal 12

How it works

  1. 1

    Assessment

You share access to the code and a copy of the site. We check readiness and send you written findings with an estimate.

  2. 2

    Preparation

We update Drupal 10, fix deprecations, sort out modules without Drupal 11 releases and confirm hosting.

  3. 3

    Upgrade on staging

The upgrade runs on a staging copy first, so your live site is never the test environment.

  4. 4

    Testing with your team

We test the important user journeys and you review the staging site before anything goes live.

  5. 5

    Launch and follow-up

We release to production, watch for problems and stay available for fixes after launch.

How pricing works

The cost of a Drupal 10 to 11 upgrade depends on your site, not on a package. The main factors are how much custom code it has, how many contributed modules lack Drupal 11 releases, whether hosting needs to change, and how far behind on updates the site is.

That is why every upgrade starts with an assessment. You get a written estimate before any upgrade work begins.

Short on time before the deadline?

If a full upgrade cannot be finished before December 9, we can first reduce your risk: apply the final Drupal 10 security releases, remove unused modules and review access, then schedule the upgrade as soon as possible. For urgent problems with a Drupal site, see our Drupal help service.

Frequently asked questions

Will my site stop working on December 9, 2026?
No. It will keep running, but vulnerabilities found after that date will not be fixed for Drupal 10. Over time that makes the site an easier target.
Can we skip Drupal 11 and go straight to Drupal 12?
No. Drupal 12 only upgrades from recent Drupal 11 releases, and it needs PHP 8.5. Upgrading to Drupal 11 is a required step and keeps you supported in the meantime.
How long does an upgrade take?
For a well-maintained site with little custom code, usually days to a couple of weeks. Sites with a lot of custom code or modules without Drupal 11 releases take longer. The assessment gives you a realistic timeline.
Our site was built by another agency. Can you still upgrade it?
Yes. Many upgrades start with code someone else wrote. The assessment covers reviewing that code before we estimate anything.
Will the site look or work differently afterwards?
Not unless you want it to. An upgrade keeps your design, content and features. If you want improvements, we can plan them separately.
What do you need from us to start?
Access to the code repository, a recent copy of the database or a staging site, your hosting details, and a list of the features and forms that matter most to your business.
